About Michelle Allen

Michelle Allen has worked for five different state agencies including The State Department of Education, The Employment Development Department, The Employment Training Panel, The Department of General Services, and The Department of Technology Services. During her career she was also "on loan" to assist in the Governor's Office.

She has been teaching this class for six years and has been doing customized seminars and workshops for outplacement firms, schools, and job fairs.

Her clients have landed state jobs before, during, and after several hiring freezes.

Services for companies, schools, and networking groups include a 2-hour seminar on state careers. Individual consultations provide a one-on-one assessment of one's education and experience that correlates to "open" state exams. This evaluation helps clients understand their eligibility to take various exams and what they can expect on the exams.

What Clients Have Said

"Without Michelle's help I would not have known how to qualify for the exam"

- Jerry B., Now working for the Department of General Services

"Thanks for the advice a while back. I did as you said and applied to various State Departments at the Auditor level and not only received two interview appointments, but the first interview with the California Department of Aging resulted in an offer (in 24 hours)!!!! They reinstated me at the former level of Auditor III. I accepted and begin on Monday. Thanks again Michelle."

- Fili G.

"I wanted to let you know that I was offered a position at DWR and I have accepted it! I start on September 28. I want to thank you for all of your input especially about writing in number of years performing specific tasks that the job spec sheets require. Thank you for all of your help. I do not know if I would have a job with the state right now if I did not have access to someone like you"

- Karen P.

"I have received 80-100 Letters of Inquiry, so I am sure I would have been hired by now, but I got this position, one I am very happy with, because of you. Most of all the Letters of Inquiry were for positions that I would have not been as excited about. Again, thanks to you I found a position that c

ould not have matched my skill set any better. Just a quick note to thank you yet again for your help and support. On the anniversary of my fourth month of State employment I was promoted to system Software Specialist II (Supervisory) within my current department."

- Ken K., Now working at the Department of Pesticide Regulation
